Thursday, January 19th | 7-9pm | FREE (Barter)

This Charlottesville Trade School course is designed to educate you on the musical technique of electronic looping.  Wes Swing, a musician from the Charlottesville area, performs with a loop pedal to place layer upon layer of melodic cello lines over one another to provide his vocals with a sweeping harmonic backdrop.  Wes will explain the technology behind the loop pedal as well as how it is used in live performances with his band. There will be a demonstration of how Wes uses electronic looping as well as some explanations of how other artists in the music industry are using loop pedals, and even a chance to try looping!

The Charlottesville Trade School is turning seemingly ordinary spaces into energized classrooms where friends, neighbors, co-workers, and strangers share skills and good company. Rather than paying for instruction, students sign up to learn new trades by meeting the teacher’s barter requests– anything from a dozen free range eggs, a good book, mixed tapes, a random act of kindness, tools, to an original work of art!

On February 17 from 6-7:30 PM at The Bridge PAI, Maureen Lovett will be teaching a class on basic knitting skills. Maureen and a few TA’s will devote a portion of the class  to the guerilla arts– guerilla knitting, in particular.

To register for the class, sign up at the Cville Trade School online. Barter items will be announced closer to the class date.
