Come out to the Garage on Saturday, May 26th at 8pm. Asheville-based indie-folk, NYST will remind you of Rilo Kiley, Cake, Dr. Dog and The Violent Femmes. With strong harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and catchy instrumentation, the band is both smart and friendly. Local stars The Judy Chops play their Garage debut as the openers, starting at 8pm.

On Tuesday, the 22nd of May, at 8pm, come out to the Garage for River Whyless. Based out of Asheville, North Carolina and they have quickly become known throughout the southeast for their fresh sound and the energy of their live show. With a graduate of Appalachian State’s School of Music and a classically trained violinist, River Whyless combines technical skill with the creative gifts of the band’s co-songwriters Ryan O’Keefe and Halli Anderson to produce an unclassifiable sound.

On Wednesday, May 16, at 8pm, Philadelphia-based country-folk songstress Liz Fullerton not only has a voice that can stop your heart, she’s got the songs that can break it. The Garage is thrilled to have Honey Watts back again, this time with fellow-Philly songwriter Jonny Miles.

Woe Pony is releasing a seven track EP on May 10  at 8pm, and are performing at the Garden (also known as Eunoia or All Souls). This will be their farewell show as John is moving back to Michigan. They’re really excited about the release of the album, working with producer Isaac Wardell and engineer and mixer, Alex DeJong, over at White Star Studio. Come join them for a special night of music and community.

Pennsylvania-based experimental-antifolk duo, Key of V is coming to the Crozet Mudhouse on May 12th. Comprised of two young sisters, inspired by an amalgamation of influences and equipped with electrified-acoustic instruments and effects pedals, Key of V challenges traditional vocals and instrumentation–and the preconception that tiny duos cannot make big sounds.

On Friday, April 13th, Founders Day, at 5:00 pm, Tom Tom will be launched from the steps of the McGuffey, the historic school house that has served as the central civic art institution for decades. The perfect spring day and the first outdoor concert of the season, there will be a block party, a street food fair, children’s activities, public art exhibition, and prominent local bands playing from the front steps and inside the studios.

A beautiful blend of indie/jazz/folk, Isaac Gill and his Williamsburg-based band are touring supporting his debut album, coming out in April.

On Saturday, April 7th, Charleston, SC-based indie rockers Hey Rocco will be passing through on their east coast tour. Their sound varies from soft and soothing guitar lines to raucous riffs, while all the while strong vocals float above it all. It’s simple, textured, really good rock-and-roll.

Combining her rural Mississippi influences and her now- Brooklyn roots, Kelly’s folksy and honest talent makes her a great and cozy performer. WNYC’s Soundcheck named her performance one of the year’s best.  Don’t miss it.
