Exhibition Statement (provided by the artist)

Rusty, used, rejected, deteriorated objects interest me. Like imperfect, worn-travelled people, they have a more interesting story to tell. I like the contrast they present to the perfect world we are constantly reminded to strive for through a daily visual bombardment of pixels, ink, and paint. The journey begins with sketches from notebooks or a found object to build around. This is then expanded on by manufacturing my own solutions from wood, metal, plastic or finding what appears to be the perfect piece in a junk drawer. I enjoy having preconceived ideas blown out of the water by discovering a new idea or finding a more interesting piece of detritus along a curb that will enhance a work in progress. Bits and pieces are added, altered or removed until that critical point is reached where nothing more should be added or taken away.

About the Artist (provided by the artist)

David Borszich is a graphic designer for the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. He has exhibited at Spring Arbor University in Michigan as well as the McGuffey Art Center. This will be his first solo show. Nature is a constant inspiration. It is also my refuge to hike in, to set the mind free to solve an artistic problem or to discover new ideas.
